After the loss of her mother, young Jessie finds herself alone. Unable to confide in her dad, who consistently pushes her away to focus primarily on her two younger sisters, Emma and Eliza.

Jessie finds some relief though when she signs up for the school play, in hope of becoming the actress she and her mother dreamed she'd be. Jessie's dreams are put on hold when things at home become worse. But they can only push Jessie so far before she reaches her breaking point.
